| Formation
of the Association |
The Omani Dermatology
Society (ODS) was established in 2006 March. The
society was conceptualized to gather all dermatologist
and venereologist in the Sultanate to share and
discuss the clinical practice, education and research
relevant in dermatologic medicine, surgery and
related discipline.
ODS is affiliated
to Oman Medical Association and is under the patronage
of Ministry of Social Development. The Society's
aim is to cater the academic needs of all the
dermatologist in the Ministry of Health, private
practioners along with the dermatologists from
other ministries. Members are encouraged to conduct
research and studies inclined with their field
of specialization.
The main tertiary
care for dermatology is the Al-Nahdha Hospital
where the Department of Dermatology was first
established in the year 1972.

This centre is also
a teaching faculty for Sultan Qaboos Hospital
undergradute students as well as centre for post-gradutes
students affiliated to the Arab Board of Dermatology.The
4 year Degree course consists of Part I and Part
II examinations. So far 12 students has been successfully
completed the degree course in Dermatology and
another 18 students are under training.
It also involved
in training FAMCO residents and short training
for GPs from Health Centres.

and ideas of the Association's interest, with
other scientific universities and institutions
in the Sultanate and abroad. |

Prepare
and organize intensive scientific courses
for the trainee doctors in their field of
specialization in order to groom them, academically
and practically, for fellowship examinations
and doctorate degrees in skin and venereal
diseases. |
